Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has received over 1.10 lakh revaluation applications from Class XII students. The state board charges Rs 500 per subject for revaluation of each subject and Rs 200 for re-totaling. The unprecedented rise in revaluation applications, which is 60% more than last year, has put board office on toes. Last year, they had around 50,000 applications for revaluation, which took months for them top clear. This year one in every eight students was dissatisfied over the marks they have received.
RBSE's biggest worry is that class X result was announced few days back and they have started receiving applications for the revaluation of their papers. Boards officials fear that if the trend continues it is likely that they would receive another one lakh requests further aggravating the situation. This year 16 lakh students had appeared in the class X exam.
The additional work for the staff crunched board has posed a difficulty challenge for them. The board has to advertise tender for calling the services of photo state vendors. It has forced them to do certain things which they had never done before. They have turned a big hall for the task. Here 60 photocopy machines were deputed with helpers working from 8am till 6pm photocopying the answer sheets without break. They have deputed extra security staff at areas where the revaluation work is going on. Besides, cameras were installed at several places to capture every activity related to the revaluation.
