Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) is the process through which more than 1.5 lakh engineering aspirants get themselves enrolled into engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu through single window counselling. Common application form to seek admission to University Departments and Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by Self–Financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu under Unified Single Window Admission System for Indian Nationals.
A total of 56,685 application forms for engineering courses offered by Anna University were sold on May 6th, the first day of the sale of the forms. This does not include the number of forms downloaded online. The university has also released the tentative dates for issuing random number, rank list and counselling. Though the schedule of events has been uploaded on the university website, it could change based on the availability of the Higher Education Minister, officials said.
The first day sale amounted to 26 per cent of the total number of forms sold last year. In 2014, as many as 2.15 lakh application forms were sold. “The sale was lower in the afternoon and we expect it to be low on May 7th, Thursday as Class XII exams results are being announced,” said V. Rhymend Uthariaraj, secretary, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions.
Forms are being sold in 60 centres across the State. Since each district has at least two or three centres where forms are issued, officials expect very few people to download them. Application forms for B.Arch will be issued after the department conducts the entrance exam. The date for the online national aptitude test is awaited. “We take the test scores for 200 marks and the academic scores for 200 marks to arrive at the ranks,” an official said. Meanwhile, application forms for engineering courses will be issued from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. except Sundays and general holidays.
